We have many friends and supporters and this is where we acknowledge these lovely people and tell you a little bit about them.
"Friends of DWMRT" Association
These are a small group of people who have had a long standing association with the team in one way or the other. Some have been team members, some have been rescued, some have been both or neither. All of them have committed a small amount each year to support their local mountain rescue team. The money is important, of course, but their ongoing support is equally important and we thank them for this.
We are looking at ways of opening this up to other people who may be interested in supporting the team in this manner. Please check back for further details in the coming months.
Charlie Froud Foundation
On Saturday 25th October 2008, in very poor weather conditions, a light aircraft crashed on Corriebracks Mountain in the Wicklow Mountains. A young 14 year old boy, Charlie Froud, was on board. He was travelling with his friend Ayman and Ayman’s parents, for a short holiday in Ireland during the school mid-term. Tragically none survived the crash.
In an effort to keep Charlie’s memory alive in a positive and meaningful way, his parents, Heather and David, and his sister George have set up a foundation in his name.
The foundation was established to help raise funds for the volunteer rescue teams who assisted in the search and recovery of the victims of the air crash in October 2008. Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue is one of these teams and we are delighted to publicly note our association and friendship with the Froud Family and the Charlie Froud Foundation.
