Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team Celebrates it’s 30th BirthdayMountain Rescue in the Dublin & Wicklow Mountains spans back as far as the year 1966 with the An Oige Mountain Rescue Team.

 The team ethos back then was “mountaineers helping other mountaineers who get into difficulty”. The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team was formed in May 1984 with the original membership made up of these highly trained rescuers from An Oige. DWMRT goes airborne with the Aer Corps AW139Members of Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue teamed up with their neighbouring Glen Of Immal MRT and the Search and Rescue Dogs Association for some intensive helicopter training with the Aer Corps on the excellent AW139 Heli last Sunday (30th March). Some callouts can require teams to work with the Aer Corps so it’s vital that all members are familiar with the safety procedures involved.
